As residents prepare for winter, the Public Works and Engineering department would like to provide the following reminders: Staff are currently sweeping and cleaning basins and storm drains in preparation for the flow of water during the winter months. The public is asked to manage leaves as they may cause drains to plug, resulting in potential flooding. Take caution when in close proximity to drainage systems and ensure children and pets stay away from hazardous areas. Basketball nets should also be removed from roadways to assist in street cleaning. Additionally, under By-law 77-200-5(14), motorists are reminded that effective Wednesday, November 1 parking of vehicles on city streets is not permitted during the winter months between midnight and 6 a.m. Vehicles that remain parked on the street during an overnight parking restriction will receive a $15 fine and may have their vehicle towed at the owner's expense. The By-law remains in effect from November 1, 2017 through to midnight April 30, 2018 even when there is no snow. Weather predictions may be incorrect and when snow occurs officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service are kept busy tagging and towing cars to assist Public Works and Engineering Services with snow removal. The City of Sault Ste. Solar energy harvests the power of the sun and it can not only save the planet, but save your electricity bill. Solar energy is useful for both home and business applications. If you need any further convincing, keep on reading to learn even more.
Solar energy systems will keep working, but you must maintain them. Inspect and clean your panels on a regular basis. You can hire a professional that can do these things for you, but doing it yourself will save money.
If you want solar panels that are efficient, you should try to get ones that don't always have to rely on when the sun is out. Newer systems can store energy from the sun while it is up, and then let you use that energy later. This is useful for nighttime power.
If you do not want to go all out when using solar power, you can use small-scale versions. There are two ways to do this. The first is to get solar panels that you can attach onto windows - these can be used to recharge portable electronic gadgets. Another option is to look for solar-powered camping gear like lanterns and stoves. Each thing you decide to implement helps shave your energy costs.
If you wish to get a solar power system, stay away from high pressure salespeople. You need to be careful and make sure you pick the one that gives you the greatest benefit. Buying on the spot from a high pressure person can mean making the wrong choice and wasting your hard earned money.
When the space and resources are available, your best bet for maximum solar energy gathering is a panel system with sun tracking. Systems like this follow the sun's movement during the day and through the seasons. It can be quite costly to put in one of these systems, but you should start to generate a profit in a few years.
Are you in the middle of building a home? Think about solar power as construction gets underway. Using solar energy is good for the planet and your wallet. Now is the perfect time to check out this kind of energy.
It's not something readily thought about, but if you are using solar power, you don't need to be hooked into your community's power grid. You have the ability to be independent from the power companies in your area. This means you can look forward to no more utility bills.
When you reach the point of your life where you're a homeowner, going full blown solar makes sense. If you still have a mortgage on your home, the initial costs involved with solar panels may prove to be too much of a financial burden, causing you to lose both if you fail to make your payments.
Solar panels don't come cheap, so you may end up getting just a few of them to meet your needs. You should find a professional who can conduct an energy audit. This will show you possible sources of wasted energy so that you can make the appropriate changes. You will then need fewer panels.
When were the panels you're interested in designed? Recent panels are a lot more efficient, but there are vendors who still offer products that are not up to date. You can get old technology cheaply, but it isn't a good buy because it doesn't work as well as the latest technology.
People everywhere are using the sun's power. Solar energy is continuing to become more and more popular as time goes by; therefore, using this form of energy yourself can be a smart decision for you to make. Not only is it environmentally friendly, it's good for the budget too! Use the information you've learned so that you can make the best decisions regarding solar energy.
